I had high hopes for my stay at Deer Creek State Park Lodge, but it didn't exactly meet my expectations. The beautiful lake views were a highlight, but the cabin I stayed in was quite outdated and poorly maintained. While the staff was friendly and helpful, the overall condition of the facilities left much to be desired.

Rooms
5.0
The cabin was in bad shape with chewed gum on the bed, mold in the bathroom, and inappropriate graffiti everywhere. It felt neglected and unkempt, which was disappointing given the price.
Service
6.0
Although the staff was friendly, the lack of communication about the pool being down and slow internet was frustrating. I expected better service, especially after traveling a long distance.
Location
7.0
The scenic views of the lake were stunning, but accessing the water was difficult due to steep, wooded hills. I did enjoy seeing local wildlife, which added to the natural charm of the park.
Dining
5.0
Dining options were hit or miss; the breakfast buffet had cold and thick sausage gravy. However, I did find the pizza at Harding's Lounge quite enjoyable (thankfully!).
Facilities
5.0
The recreational facilities were underwhelming, with the indoor pool needing a lifeguard and the hot tub jets not working. The overall dated nature of the amenities made it hard to feel like I was at a modern lodge.

6.8/10

I recently stayed at Deer Creek Lodge, and while the location offers beautiful views of the lake, my experience was marred by outdated and poorly maintained accommodations. The staff was friendly and helpful, but the overall cleanliness and comfort of the rooms left much to be desired. I think a renovation is essential to restore the lodge to its former glory.

Rooms
5.0
The bathroom in my room was outdated and not adequately cleaned, with moldy tile and issues with the toilet flushing. The linens even had stains, making for an uncomfortable experience.
Service
5.0
The staff, especially at the front desk and in the dining area, were friendly and attentive. However, housekeeping didn't clean my room or replace supplies during my stay, which was disappointing.
Location
6.0
The lodge's location is gorgeous, with scenic views over the lake and easy access to nature trails, making it an appealing spot for relaxation.
Dining
5.0
Dining options were just okay. While some dishes were satisfying, the overall food experience didn't live up to my expectations given the beautiful surroundings.
Facilities
5.0
The lodge had potential with its rustic charm, but the amenities seemed worn out and in need of repair, especially the lobby fireplace which was inoperable.

The lodge’s location by the lake is beautiful, providing a stunning backdrop to my stay. However, the accommodations left much to be desired, with cleanliness issues and outdated rooms making me uncomfortable. While the staff was friendly and attentive, the overall experience was overshadowed by the condition of the facilities.

Rooms

My room was outdated and felt unkempt, making me eager to return home. There were stains on the sheets and significant mold in the bathroom, which really detracted from my comfort. Despite attempts by housekeeping, the room still didn’t feel clean.
Service
5.0
The staff was really friendly and helpful, which is a highlight of my visit. They were attentive during meals and quickly addressed my concerns about housekeeping, but some team members seemed less enthusiastic about serving guests.
Location
5.0
The lodge is nestled within the state park, which offers beautiful lake views. It’s a great spot for enjoying nature and provides easy access to scenic walking trails, enhancing the overall stay.
Dining
5.0
I enjoyed the pizza from the bar, but the breakfast buffet was disappointing with most food served cold. The dining experience had its ups and downs, reflecting some inconsistency in food service.
Facilities
5.0
Access to both indoor and outdoor pools was nice and provided a great way to relax. Most other facilities seemed dated and in need of renovation, which took away from the overall enjoyment of the stay.

My stay at Deer Creek State Park Lodge was a mixed bag. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and I loved the beautiful lake views from my room. However, I faced some issues with cleanliness and service that left me feeling disappointed at times.

Rooms
6.0
The room was generally clean upon check-in, but I found it smaller than I expected and there were some sticky snacks on the balcony that had clearly been overlooked. I enjoyed a nice view of the lake, though.
Service
5.0
While the staff were friendly and quick to respond to requests, I had a frustrating experience with restaurant service. There were long wait times for food, and when we asked for coffee in the morning, it was already out with no real explanation.
Location
7.0
The location was fantastic for accessing nature and enjoying beautiful views of the lake, but I did hear quite a bit of noise at night, as our cabin was near a boat ramp that was active late into the evening.
Dining
5.0
Dining options were a bit limited, and while I had some satisfying meals, there were times when the wait was longer than expected, which detracted from the overall experience.
Facilities
6.0
The lodge had nice features like the game room and pool, but they could use better maintenance and more attentive service in the dining areas to enhance the experience further.

My stay at Deer Creek State Park Lodge was a mixed bag. The beautiful lake views from my room created a lovely ambiance, though I faced significant disappointments in cleanliness and service. While the staff was friendly, the dirty condition of the facilities left much to be desired.

Rooms

I had a room on the first floor with lovely views of the lake. However, I noticed some oddities like a mattress discarded next to my deck. The room itself was basic but functional, and the beds were quite comfortable.
Service
5.0
The staff was friendly and helpful. but I did experience some frustrating delays at the restaurant. At one point, even my request for coffee felt like an afterthought.
Location
8.0
The lodge is situated right at the lake, providing gorgeous views and a serene environment. I appreciated the proximity to nature, especially the sightings of local wildlife like deer.
Dining
5.0
Dining offered some good options like pizza from the bar, which was enjoyable. but other meals felt overpriced and took longer than expected to arrive.
Facilities
7.0
The recreational facilities were nice, though overcrowded during my stay. I also found the overall ambiance of the lodge charming despite its dated decor.
